चंदेरी

Chanderi is a GI-tagged handloom fabric from the town of Chanderi in Madhya Pradesh, known for its exceptional sheerness, light weight, and unique combination of silk and cotton threads that give it a natural sheen. Chanderi textiles feature traditional motifs including coin (ashrafis), dancing girls (natya), and peacocks (mor) woven into self-coloured or contrasting borders using extra weft threads. The craft has been practiced for over 700 years in Chanderi, with weavers belonging to the Ansari and Koshthi communities maintaining an unbroken tradition.

बाघ प्रिंट

Bagh Print is a GI-tagged natural dye hand block-printing tradition from the village of Bagh on the banks of the Baghini river in Madhya Pradesh's Dhar district. The Khatri community of Bagh has practiced this craft for over 500 years using natural dyes including alizarin (red), indigo (blue), and iron black, on pre-treated cotton fabric. The characteristic designs feature geometric and floral patterns inspired by ancient temple architecture and Persian textile motifs, printed in deep red, indigo, and black on natural cotton ground.

माहेश्वरी

Maheshwari is a GI-tagged handloom saree tradition from Maheshwar on the banks of the Narmada river in Madhya Pradesh, revived in the 18th century by Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar who invited weavers from Surat and Varanasi to establish the craft. Maheshwari sarees are distinguished by their reversible borders in self-coloured or contrasting stripes, a variety of weave structures (including the distinctive 5-3-1 stripe combination in the border), and the use of silk-cotton blends. The sarees are known for their lightweight comfort and quiet elegance.
